Ten-man Lyon beat Nice 2-1 to go top of Ligue 1 as Monaco lose at Lorient
Pavel Šulc and Tanner Tessmann scored after Elye Wahi's opener for Nice. Five teams are level on 14 points, and Monaco's 1-0 defeat leaves no unbeaten team in Ligue 1.
Lyon came from behind to beat Nice 2-1 at the Groupama Stadium on Sunday 18 October and moved to the top of Ligue 1 on goal difference, according to AFP and franceinfo.
Elye Wahi put Nice ahead after 18 minutes. Lyon then scored twice in three minutes before half-time: Pavel Šulc equalised from a rebound and Tanner Tessmann headed Lyon in front, AFP reported.
Lyon’s Keito Nakamura was sent off for a high boot 20 minutes from time. Wahi then hit the post with a header, and in injury time he had an equaliser ruled out for offside, AFP said.
Lorient 1 Monaco 0: Noah Cadiou scored a penalty on the hour at the Stade du Moustoir after Monaco captain Denis Zakaria fouled Dembo Sylla, AFP reported. Monaco goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky dived the right way but could not reach the kick. It was Monaco’s first league defeat of the season, and Eurosport said no team in Ligue 1 is now unbeaten. Eurosport reported that the penalty was Lorient’s first shot on target.
