Milan 2-4 Bologna: Mbangula hat-trick ends Milan's unbeaten Serie A start under Amorim
Samuel Mbangula scored three times as Bologna came from 2-1 down at half-time to win 4-2 at San Siro, handing Milan their first league defeat of the season three days before the Milan derby.
Bologna beat AC Milan 4-2 at San Siro in Serie A on Wednesday, with Samuel Mbangula scoring a hat-trick, according to ANSA and FootItalia. It was Milan’s first league defeat of the season under coach Rúben Amorim.
Cissè double, then Bologna’s second half
Mbangula opened the scoring in the eighth minute. Alphadjo Cissè equalised in the 14th minute and put Milan 2-1 up in the 27th, FootItalia reported. Davide Bartesaghi’s own goal made it 2-2 on the hour, Mbangula restored Bologna’s lead two minutes later and completed his hat-trick in the 86th minute.
Milan had 66% of possession, while Bologna had five shots on target to Milan’s three, according to FootItalia.
Records and reaction
FotMob, citing Opta data, said Mbangula is the second player to score a Serie A hat-trick away to Milan, after Gabriel Batistuta for Fiorentina in September 1998.
“I felt from the first minute that the team was a little bit tired and without much energy,” Amorim said, according to FotMob. “It’s also because we are so tired at times, but that’s not an excuse.”
Milan started the round fifth on 18 points, FootItalia said. They face Inter in the Milan derby on Saturday 31 October.
