Tarantino says he has written his tenth film script but will put on his London play first

The director told The Graham Norton Show he wants to stage 'The Popinjay Cavalier' and spend time with his family before deciding what comes next.

Quentin Tarantino has confirmed he has finished writing a script for his tenth feature film, which he has long said will be his last, but says he will not pursue it until his new stage play has closed.

“I’ve written a script that I really like, but I want to do the play and see who I am,” Tarantino said on BBC One’s “The Graham Norton Show”, Variety reported on Saturday (US time). He said he would then spend time with his family “and live a little” before deciding what to do next. It was his first appearance on the show in more than a decade, alongside guests Ellen DeGeneres, Colin Farrell and Gemma Chan.

The play, “The Popinjay Cavalier”, described as a swashbuckling comedy, stars Sacha Baron Cohen. It is due to open at London’s Phoenix Theatre next March after previews in late February and run until 13 June. Tarantino said the story began as a screenplay before he realised “it really worked as a play.”

Tarantino’s most recent film is “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, released in 2019. It won Oscars for Brad Pitt as best supporting actor and for Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh for production design.
