Trump posts Kansas rally pledges: $5,000 'Trump Dividend' if Republicans win, $8 billion diesel relief for farmers

US President Donald Trump posted more than a dozen passages from his Monday night rally in Kansas on Truth Social between 11:19am and 1:26am GMT on Tuesday 20 October. The rally backed Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who faces Democrat Adam Hamilton in the 3 November midterm elections, The Hill reported.

In a post at 1:01am GMT, Trump wrote: “If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate, I am going to give ALL ADULT CITIZENS in the United States 5,000 DOLLARS.” He said this was possible “because we’re taking in massive amounts of money through TARIFFS,” adding: “The ONLY Caveat of the Trump Dividend is that you have to spend the money in the United States of America!” He has made the same pledge at earlier rallies. Nebraska Public Media reported on 5 October that he did not say when it would be paid or whether Congress would need to approve it.

In a post at 1:17am GMT, Trump said the Department of Agriculture “will be launching a new ‘Harvest Fuel Relief Program,’ providing our Farmers with 8 BILLION DOLLARS in support to offset Diesel costs during this Harvest Season.” The department confirmed the one-time payments on Monday, saying payment rates for major crops will be released in November. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the money “will help bring certainty to our farmers during this harvest.” The Hill reported that diesel averages about $6.32 a gallon, citing AAA.

In a post at 12:21am GMT, Trump pointed to the unrest in France and wrote of Europe: “We stand with Europe, despite its flaws, its weaknesses and, hopefully, its temporary loss of direction. But if they don’t soon find their way, we will have no choice but to leave.” He did not say what leaving would involve.
