Nottingham Forest 0-1 Arsenal: substitute Madueke's deflected shot settles it late
Noni Madueke scored in the 80th minute with Arsenal's only shot on target. Arsenal move second, three points behind Manchester City, and Forest drop into the relegation zone.
Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground on Sunday 18 October, according to Sky Sports, ESPN and BBC Sport. The Premier League match kicked off at 4.30pm UK time (3:30pm Sunday GMT).
Noni Madueke, who replaced Eberechi Eze at half-time, scored the only goal in the 80th minute. Sky Sports reported that he cut inside from the left and that his shot deflected off Forest defender Jair Cunha past goalkeeper Matz Sels. ESPN’s match data showed it was Arsenal’s only shot on target, and that Arsenal had 74% of possession.
Forest defender Murillo shot narrowly wide in added time, and Arsenal’s Ezri Konsa blocked a late shot from Liam Delap, Sky Sports reported.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports: “We had to be so patient, without getting frustrated.” Forest head coach Oliver Glasner said it was Arsenal’s “only shot on target” and that “this one was deflected and Arsenal took the win.”
