Bayern Munich 2-2 Arsenal: Rice equalises late after Kane penalty; Saka off injured in 10th minute
Eberechi Eze, Saka's replacement, gave Arsenal the lead in Munich. Mikel Arteta said Saka's quad injury 'doesn't look good at all'.
Bayern Munich and Arsenal drew 2-2 in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night, with Declan Rice scoring an 82nd-minute equaliser for the visitors.
How it went
Bukayo Saka went off after about nine minutes with a non-contact injury and was replaced by Eberechi Eze, Arsenal said. Eze opened the scoring on 25 minutes from Martin Ødegaard’s pass; the goal was flagged offside but allowed to stand after a VAR check, according to the club.
Alphonso Davies equalised ten minutes later after a pass from Harry Kane, Arsenal and UEFA reported. Bayern went ahead in the second half when Kane scored a penalty awarded for handball by Jurriën Timber. UEFA said Kane has now scored in ten successive Champions League games and has 58 goals in the competition. Rice then scored with a low shot from inside the box.
Saka injury
ESPN reported that Saka held his left thigh as he went off. Asked about the problem, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said “His quad”, and added: “It doesn’t look good at all, but we have to wait and see,” according to Football London. No scan result had been announced as of 11pm GMT Wednesday.
Standings
Arsenal have seven points and are unbeaten in 15 league phase games, the club said. Bayern have five points, according to BBC Sport’s table.
