Inter 2-1 Fiorentina: Thuram and Zieliński score in stoppage time to keep Inter level with Lazio at the top
Alex Jiménez put Fiorentina ahead midway through the second half. Marcus Thuram equalised in stoppage time and won the penalty that Piotr Zieliński scored minutes later.
Inter came from behind to beat Fiorentina 2-1 at home on Sunday 25 October (kick-off 11:30am GMT), scoring twice in stoppage time, Reuters reported.
How the goals came
Alex Jiménez put Fiorentina ahead in the 65th minute, according to Tuttomercatoweb’s match sheet. Reuters said Fiorentina looked set to hand Inter their first league defeat of the season until Marcus Thuram equalised in stoppage time.
Minutes later Thuram was brought down in the penalty area by Víctor Valdepeñas, and substitute Piotr Zieliński scored the penalty, Reuters reported. Zieliński had come on in the 77th minute with Federico Dimarco and Petar Sučić, according to Tuttomercatoweb’s line-ups for Cristian Chivu’s side.
What it means
Reuters said Inter are level on 22 points with Lazio, who beat Parma on Saturday, with Roma third on 18. ANSA said it was the fifth time this season that Inter had turned a match around. Fiorentina, coached by Paolo Vanoli, have lost three league games in a row and are 18th with four points, according to Reuters.
