John Wilson filming documentary on Harry Styles' Madison Square Garden residency, Variety reports
The director of 'How To with John Wilson' has been filming Styles' 'Together, Together' shows since August, according to sources cited by Variety. Universal Pictures Content Group will own global rights.
Filmmaker John Wilson is making a documentary about Harry Styles’ residency at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Variety reported, citing two sources with knowledge of the project.
Wilson, who made the HBO series “How To with John Wilson” and the documentary “The History of Concrete”, has been filming Styles at the venue since August, Variety said. One source described the film as “a hybrid of live performances and a glimpse into Styles’ world”, featuring “authentic human stories of everyone involved in the tour — from the singer and his fans to countless others behind the scenes”.
Universal Pictures Content Group, Peanut World Pictures and Styles are producing the film, and Universal Pictures Content Group will own global rights, according to Variety. It reported that distribution plans were still being worked out, but that the film may be released in cinemas through Universal.
Representatives for Styles, Wilson and Universal did not immediately comment, Variety said.
The 30-show residency, part of Styles’ “Together, Together” tour, began in August and runs until 31 October, Rolling Stone reported. Variety described it as the largest single-engagement residency at the venue.
Photos shared on social media in recent days showed Wilson following Styles with a camera in New York, Rolling Stone said.
