Aviva Investors launches tokenised share class of £22 billion sterling money market fund on XRP Ledger
Aviva Investors and Ripple said a tokenised share class of the Aviva Investors Sterling Liquidity Fund is now available on the XRP Ledger, with Aviva investing £50 million in it. The underlying fund stays off-chain.
Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of Aviva plc, has launched a tokenised share class of its Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, the firm and Ripple announced on Monday 26 October.
The Ireland-domiciled money market fund is Aviva Investors’ largest, with about £22 billion in assets under management, according to the announcement. The £22 billion figure is the size of the whole fund, not the amount held in the new tokenised class. Aviva has invested £50 million in the new share class.
The companies said the fund uses a “digital twin” model, in which holdings are represented on-chain while the existing fund structure stays off-chain. The tokenised class is open to eligible investors with digital wallets. The Bank of New York Mellon remains the fund’s custodian, with support from digital asset custodian Komainu and tokenisation platform Licuido.
It is the second Aviva Investors fund to get a tokenised share class, after its US dollar Liquidity Fund in July 2026. The firm said it now has more than £86 million invested across the two tokenised classes.
“This expansion of our tokenised offering shows our clear intent to be a leader in this area,” said Mark Versey, chief executive of Aviva Investors. Nigel Khakoo, a Ripple senior vice president, said markets were moving to 24/7 access and real-time settlement.
