Strategy shareholders approve daily dividends on its preferred shares, starting with STRC
Strategy shareholders approved a change letting the bitcoin treasury company's four preferred stocks accrue dividends every calendar day, with 99.3% of votes in favour, according to preliminary results. STRC moves first, with its first daily record date on 1 November.
Shareholders of Strategy, the company that holds bitcoin as its main treasury asset, approved an amendment on Wednesday 28 October allowing its four preferred stocks to accrue dividends every calendar day, including weekends and holidays.
Preliminary results showed 99.3% of votes cast were in favour, founder and chairman Michael Saylor said on X. The vote took place at a special meeting of stockholders, the company said in a filing.
The change covers the STRF, STRC, STRK and STRD preferred shares. STRC’s first daily record date will be 1 November, with payment on 2 November, while the other three switch on 1 January 2027, with payment on 4 January, according to Saylor. The change still depends on Strategy filing amended terms for each stock, Decrypt reported, citing the filing.
Strategy said dividends with record dates on weekends or holidays will in practice be grouped and paid on the next business day, with Nasdaq treating the previous business day as the ex-dividend date. For STRC, the change means 365 record dates a year instead of 24, Decrypt reported.
CoinDesk reported that STRC, which yields 12%, was trading at $99.72, just below its $100 par value. Decrypt reported that Strategy last week paused bitcoin purchases and spent $204.9 million buying back STRC shares.
