La Liga: Mikautadze wins it for Villarreal in 96th minute at Valencia; Atlético, Elche and Racing also win

Four La Liga matchday-10 games were played on Saturday 24 October. Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, Elche and Racing Santander all won. Barcelona host Real Madrid in El Clásico on Sunday.

Valencia 1-2 Villarreal. Pepelu put Valencia ahead with a 38th-minute penalty. Alex Freeman headed Villarreal level in the 69th minute from Sergi Cardona’s cross, and Georges Mikautadze scored the winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time on a counter-attack, set up by Moleiro, Mundo Deportivo and Marca reported.

Atlético Madrid 1-0 Deportivo. Julián Álvarez scored the only goal just after half-time, from a Grimaldo pass, after a poor first half from Atlético, ABC reported. The crowd at the Metropolitano was 68,674.

Rayo Vallecano 0-3 Elche. Federico Redondo and Fer Niño scored penalties in the first half, and Germán Valera added a third in the 67th minute, El País reported. Rayo’s Pathé Ciss hit the crossbar with a penalty. Rayo’s main supporters’ stand was empty under a sanction, and fans chanted against club president Raúl Martín Presa.

Racing Santander 2-1 Espanyol. Edu Expósito gave Espanyol the lead in the 62nd minute. Belocian equalised seven minutes later and Yassir Zabiri scored the winner in the 84th minute, his eighth goal of the season, COPE reported. Espanyol remain in the relegation zone.

Friday 23 October: Alavés 1-1 Málaga.
