Getafe 1-1 Rayo Vallecano: ten-man Getafe hold on for a draw on Dani Carvajal's debut

Getafe drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga at the Coliseum on Monday 19 October, according to LaLiga’s official match centre, AFP and El País.

Álvaro García put Rayo ahead in the 11th minute, finishing a counter-attack after a cross from Jorge de Frutos, Marca and Flashscore reported. Getafe defender Djené was shown a straight red card in the 28th minute for bringing down a Rayo forward who was running through on goal. Marca and Flashscore named the player as Álvaro García; El País named Sergio Camello.

Before half-time, Rayo goalkeeper Emil Audero pushed an Enes Ünal header onto the post, Marca reported. Martín Satriano equalised in the 56th minute with a header from a cross by half-time substitute Francho Serrano, according to El País and Marca. Satriano later forced another save from Audero.

Dani Carvajal, the former Real Madrid full-back, started for Getafe under coach José Bordalás about a week after the club announced his signing, El País reported. Marca and Flashscore said Álvaro García got ahead of him for Rayo’s goal.

What it means

Both teams have nine points, according to El País’s table: Rayo are 13th with a game in hand and Getafe 14th. El País said Getafe host Lugano in the Conference League this week, and that part of a stand at Rayo’s ground will be closed for their next home game, against Elche, after fan protests forced the suspension of their match against Athletic Club.
