NextDC shares halted ahead of announcement on power delay at Melbourne M3 data centre
The data centre operator said the delay could affect its 2027 financial-year guidance. Its shares will resume trading by 21 October at the latest.
Shares in data centre operator NextDC were placed in a trading halt on Monday 19 October ahead of an announcement about a delay to power supply at its M3 data centre in Melbourne, Capital Brief and The Australian Financial Review reported.
The company told the ASX the delay could affect its financial guidance for the 2027 financial year, according to Capital Brief. NextDC said its board had not yet met “to consider the M3 power delay and its implications”, Capital Brief reported.
The shares will resume trading on Wednesday 21 October if the announcement has not been made by then, although NextDC said it expected to make it earlier.
M3, in the Melbourne suburb of West Footscray, has drawn complaints from nearby residents because of its proximity to homes, and a local group has called for financial compensation from NextDC or the Victorian government, Capital Brief reported.
The halt came as investors in the US sold shares of companies linked to AI infrastructure last week. Data centre operator CoreWeave fell about 25% over the week, the ABC reported. NextDC had not given details of the expected length of the M3 power delay as of 11:30pm GMT.
