Victor Wembanyama, Amen and Ausar Thompson, Cason Wallace, Keyonte George and Brandin Podziemski had already agreed terms. Players who did not sign can become restricted free agents in 2027.

Seven players from the 2023 NBA Draft signed rookie-scale contract extensions before the deadline at 6pm US Eastern time on Monday 19 October (10pm Monday GMT), according to NBA.com. NBA.com noted that the contract terms were reported, not announced by the teams.

Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller, the No. 2 pick in 2023, agreed a five-year, $US209 million extension on Monday, his agents told ESPN. CBS Sports said the Hornets and Miller negotiated until shortly before the deadline.

The other six had agreed terms earlier, according to NBA.com and Hoops Rumors. CBS Sports reported these terms:

  • Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs, No. 1 pick): five years, $US252 million, with a player option in the final year
  • Amen Thompson (Houston Rockets): five years, $US208 million
  • Ausar Thompson (Detroit Pistons): five years, $US155 million
  • Keyonte George (Utah Jazz): five years, $US157.5 million
  • Cason Wallace (Oklahoma City Thunder): five years, $US139 million; Hoops Rumors said the Thunder announced the deal on Monday
  • Brandin Podziemski (Golden State Warriors): five years, $US110 million

On Monday morning Hoops Rumors listed 15 players who were still eligible, including Scoot Henderson (Portland), Bilal Coulibaly (Washington), Anthony Black (Orlando) and Dereck Lively II (Dallas). Apart from Miller, none appears on NBA.com’s list of players who signed. Hoops Rumors said most players in that position wait until restricted free agency in the 2027 offseason.

The regular season opens on Tuesday in the US; see our earlier report for the opening-night schedule.
