Cleveland built a 15-point first-quarter lead, the fourth game in a row in which the Hawks had trailed by at least 15 points, AP said. Atlanta’s 16 first-quarter points were its lowest for any period this season, before it held Cleveland to 16 in the second quarter, which AP said matched the Cavaliers’ lowest-scoring quarter of the season. Mitchell cut the Hawks’ lead to one point with a driving layup with 20.6 seconds left. Alexander-Walker made two free throws with 15.3 seconds left to restore a three-point lead, and Mitchell missed two potential tying attempts on Cleveland’s final possession, according to AP.

Atlanta made 17 of 43 three-pointers to Cleveland’s 13 of 42 and out-rebounded the Cavaliers 53-45, according to the ESPN box score. AP said the game was the second half of a doubleheader at State Farm Arena, after the Atlanta Dream beat the Golden State Valkyries 80-69 in Game 6 of the WNBA Finals.

The Cavaliers play at the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, and the Hawks visit the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, AP said.
