That was about 7% below CoinGecko’s recorded price of about $83,580 at 00:00 GMT on 1 October, with a few hours of the month still left to trade.

Ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency, was at about $2,254 as of 17:50 GMT, up about 0.5% over 24 hours and about 16% below its 1 October price of about $2,685, CoinGecko data showed.

Other large tokens were little changed on Saturday as of 17:50 GMT: BNB, the token linked to Binance, was at about $706, XRP at about $1.25 and solana at about $96, up about 1.7% over 24 hours. CoinGecko put the total value of all cryptocurrencies at about $2.63 trillion.

Bitcoin fell more than 4% and ether more than 5% on Thursday after the record $6.3 billion theft from Binance, before both recovered some of that ground on Friday, Reuters reported. On Saturday, Binance said it had covered about 90% of the stolen assets and remained on track to resume withdrawals on 1 November, subject to security checks, CNBC reported.
