The Solana Foundation postponed its Accelerate conference in Shanghai on Friday, the day the event was due to open.

Foundation president Lily Liu said in a post on X that registrations had quadrupled overnight and exceeded the attendance cap registered with local authorities, and that the event was postponed to “comply with local requirements”, Cointelegraph reported. No new date was announced.

An email to attendees cited “last-minute logistical considerations”, the South China Morning Post reported. The newspaper said social media posts indicated police were present at the venue, and that Solana did not immediately respond to its request for comment.

The Shanghai date was the first stop on a China tour that, according to the event website, was scheduled to continue in Hangzhou on Sunday, Shenzhen on Tuesday and Beijing on Thursday. The postponement followed the promotion of a new Solana office in Shanghai, the Post reported.

China bans token fundraising, crypto trading and mining. In February, the People’s Bank of China and seven other agencies issued a notice reaffirming restrictions on virtual-currency activity, the Post reported. It added that a Solana event in Shenzhen in October 2025 was cut short.
