Remittances funded with stablecoins cost roughly 84% less than traditional money transfers, according to a third-quarter report from Borderless.xyz, a payments network that uses stablecoins, Cointelegraph reported on Sunday 18 October (US time).

Sending $200 through stablecoin payment networks cost a median of $2, or 1%, compared with $12.72, or 6.36%, for conventional remittances, the report said. Borderless compared its own pricing from the third quarter of 2026 with World Bank data from the same quarter of 2025.

The company said the gap was largest in emerging markets. In Sub-Saharan Africa, it put the cost of stablecoin remittances at 2.9% against 8.46% for traditional transfers, and in Latin America at 1.25% against 5.64%. A $10,000 stablecoin-funded business transfer to the eurozone cost as little as $26, compared with $135 to $150 for an international bank wire including foreign-exchange costs, according to the report.

Borderless said stablecoin payouts settled in a median of two minutes in Brazil and Colombia and three minutes in Mexico, while SWIFT bank transfers typically settled the next business day. Completion rates varied: 98.6% of payments went through in Mexico, but 73% in Costa Rica, the report said.

The figures come from a company that sells stablecoin payment services and have not been independently verified. Figures are in US dollars.
